It was back in 2018, when on an average day you could walk into Van Nuys Building and Safety room 201, grab a ticket without having an appointment, and wait for your over-the-counter plan check, just to get your plans approved the same day. Things were simple back then.

On a mid-week afternoon, Sima pulled her plan check ticket, and Yegor pulled his, and they just happened to sit down at the same exact table where Esmeralda was sitting. Esmeralda knew them both and worked with both of them before.

Esmeralda said: “Sima, meet Yegor. Yegor, meet Sima”.

Sima said: “Oh, so you do plans! How much would you charge for such-and-such?”

Yegor said: “Such-and-such.”

Sima and Yegor started working together soon after, and never stopped. Each of them had just the right thing to bring to the table, and enough experience for the partnership to be established and to be carried on through the years, expanding and evolving.

In the meantime, the world has gone through monumental transformations, real estate prices went on a roller coaster ride, codes got updated thrice, wars began and ended, and plan check procedures changed and then changed again. S&R Design continued working.

Gradually, as the yearly number of projects grew, so did the workload. The team expanded. In combination with our network of highly experienced professionals in other branches of the industry, we are more than capable to help our customers with projects of any complexity.
